So some great information on Saturday from The Fascia Hub on the pelvis.
Joanne Alison did a great talk on where we might visualise the position of our sacrum and pubic bone when we sit compared to where they really are positioned. The pubic bone being a lot further down and the sacrum a bit like a roof above, so that the coccyx isn’t sat on and the psoas isn’t overly shortened, therefore increasing our lumbar curve and the lower back then getting stuck.
The two images below show both positions and how this affects the rest of our spinal alignment.
Jenny Wickford talked about the bicycle wheel representing the health of the body, and about four main aspects for optimal health: movement, nutrition, breathing and touch. I will look forward to learning more from her online next year.
Niall Galloway talked about the correlation between the feet and pelvic health amongst other pelvic health aspects.
Focusing on these aspects along with the bodies connective tissue and its adaptability and working on whole body strategies can all help keep us ticking over as best as possible. We are after all what we train to be and our body shapes who we are.
