Garuda is the creation of James D’Silva. It encompasses the principles of Pilates, with the breathwork focus of Yoga and the grace and strength of dance.
It offers a wonderful continual flowing movement repertoire that can help to increase your strength, flexibility, coordination and endurance, along with improvement of posture.

It allows you time to focus inwards as well as outwards and in doing so offers a moment of stillness and relaxation for both the body and the mind within its dynamic movements. This can help to bring a sense of ease and wellbeing to those that practice it.
This wonderful spiralling repertoire can either be offered in a group mat class environment, in a 1:1 session or there can be the added challenge of taking the repertoire to the next level using the Pilates Springboard with the Tara Sling.
The Pilates Springboard combined with the Tara Sling is a great piece of equipment that can offer support and traction through the use of the springs, which vary in their level of strength, challenge and resistance. This really does give another level of enjoyment to the beautiful fluid movements that is the Garuda repertoire.
The Garuda method can help improve the following:
- Whole body focus
- Mindful movement
- Multidimensional movement
- Rhythm & fluidity
- Strength & Endurance
- Dynamic movements
Please get in touch if you would like to find out more about Garuda mat classes with me or 1:1 movement sessions with or without the Tara Sling.

“Andrea is an inspiring teacher, her deep understanding of bodies and of the people in her class mean the sessions are constantly evolving and always motivating. She always asks for feedback and for what we would like to do next, but each class is so well designed that I am always happy to follow her lead, my only comments are that I really love it! It has had a profound impact on my health too. I used to always have a bad back, but now tweaks and twinges melt away, so much so that a friend said to me the other day that I never mention having a back bad anymore. For me, one class a week has changed my connection to my body, all for the better.
